In Hot Water

1 MIN READ

Waiting for water to warm up at the tap not only slows you down, it also wastes water and energy. Enter Uponor Wirsbo’s D’Mand Hot Water Delivery System, which consists of a pump, a motion sensor activator, and a button activator. The motion sensor activates the pump when a user approaches, or the pump can be activated by pressing a button. It delivers hot water to the fixture within seconds, the manufacturer says, and a temperature sensor detects when the hot water arrives at the fixture and automatically turns off the pump.

The D’Mand system’s recirculating pump is installed near the home’s main water heater in a structured plumbing layout,

Courtesy Uponor Wirsbo a method that minimizes hot water delivery times. A loop of tubing, the return line, starts at the hot water supply line, flows to fixtures, and returns to the D’Mand pump, which ties into the main line supplying cold water to the heater. The system installs with Wirsbo’s AquaPEX crosslinked polyethylene plumbing system. 800.321.4739. www.wirsbo.com.
