By Roberta Maynard. Congratulations to Stuart Miller, CEO of Lennar Corp., who was named by Builder and Big Builder as the recipient of the first Executive of the Year award. Miller stood out among a formidable group of peers for having the most profound impact on his operation last year. The award recognizes his leadership in integrating U.S. Home into the Lennar operation without sacrificing financial performance. (For more on the integration, see “Beam Team.”)
At the same event, two other builders were lauded for their extraordinary rates of growth. The Drees Co. was the fastest growing private building firm, doubling in size over the past three years. Drees’ counterpart in the public arena is Meritage Corp., which achieved 48 percent compound revenue growth over the past three years.
Beazer Homes USA took home the award for innovative use of technology in a home building operation, and Larry Webb, CEO of WL Homes, was recognized as the industry’s leader in customer satisfaction in 2001.
The award ceremony, held at the recent Builder 100 conference near Phoenix, was sponsored by Whirlpool Corp.
