The Washington Post reports that immigrants in the Washington, D.C.-metro area—particularly Indians, Asians, and Hispanics—are showing a major preference for homes that incorporate important aspects of their cultures. Builders are increasingly being asked to modify their home plans or build custom homes to accommodate features common to houses in immigrants’ native lands and important to maintaining their sense of connection to their homelands.
