Laredo, Tex.-based Killam Development has acquired about 3,400 acres in Mission and McAllen, Tex. from Hunt Valley Development, on which it intends to develop a master-planned live, work and play community. According to W. Scott Bailey of the San Antonio Business Journal, construction could begin early next year, with new home sales possible by fall 2020.

Leading up to the start of development, Killam plans to conduct public workshops to determine what area residents would like to see from the upcoming community, located about 246 miles south of San Antonio.

“We are deeply rooted in South Texas, and we know and understand the border culture and the importance of community,” says Cliffe Killam, a partner at Killam Development. “We see enormous potential for this area, and we look forward to working closely with the public, stakeholders and city leaders to design places that will enhance quality of life and economic opportunity in Mission and McAllen.”
