Not all move-up buyers need a rambling ranch. This was the approach taken by Brookfield Homes’ Riverside County, Calif., division. The Barrington model is located in Carlsbad, Calif. Here, homes from 1,957 to 2,287 square feet are built on minimum lot sizes of 4,000 square feet, priced from $300,000. The three- and four-bedroom plans are built with three elevation options: Craftsman, Mediterranean, and Monterey styles.
Brookfield offers front yard landscaping and decorative courtyard gates at the entry. And all homes have second-floor laundry rooms and centralized computer/desk space. “Buyers love the volume, the open spaces, and the loft option,” says marketing manager Maria Meuwisse.
