Dallas

1 MIN READ

By Carolyn Weber. Located in Dallas’ State Thomas Historic District, this five-story loft building with 127 units has the industrial appeal that those in the renter-by-choice market are looking for. The distinctive exterior is brick and concrete with large windows and a massive yellow V-shaped structure that supports the roof terrace. The distinguishing symbol gets quite a bit of attention from passersby. “It acts as a billboard and creates a unique identity from the expressway,” says Tom Brink of RTKL Associates. “Thousands of people see it every day.”

All of the units are two-story mezzanine residences with 19-foot ceilings, and the penthouse level has four single-level units with 12-foot ceilings. The interiors feature concrete ceilings, sealed concrete floors, and exposed steel bar joist structures.

The south side has floor-to-ceiling windows to take in the views of downtown Dallas.

The balconies on the south side are shaded, and corrugated metal dividers provide privacy and reinforce the simple, authentic loft aesthetic.
