Lennar Corp. has filed a development proposal with Fairfax County, Virginia, to rezone and build 470 residential units on a 7.61-acre site along Richmond Highway.

The project is called Alexandria Crossing on the application. Proposed housing includes a 385-unit multifamily building, standing six to seven stories tall, and 85 townhome units between four and two stories tall.

The site of Lennar’s latest proposal along Richmond Highway is currently occupied by a number of private residences and the Evolution Home consignment and home furnishings store, which has operated in the Alexandria area for over 20 years.

The Alexandria Crossing site is located within a quarter mile radius of the proposed Penn Daw BRT Station which is part of Fairfax County’s greater plan to transform and revitalize the Route 1 corridor.

The Alexandria Crossing application is currently scheduled to go before the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors in late fall of this year.
