By BUILDER Magazine Staff Eight Habitat for Humanity homes in the District of Columbia will be the first the nonprofit has built with network wiring. Verizon Connected Solutions will provide the hardware–a structured wiring system with three trimmed-out taps, six rough-in locations, and a residential gateway–as well as the labor to install it. “This generous gift will enable our families to have access to online information resources and the latest technologies,” says Carol Casperson, executive director of D.C. Habitat for Humanity. Verizon’s Jack Campbell says his company hopes to wire the first eight homes by the end of this year and will eventually outfit 53 of the D.C. chapter’s projects with the $2,500 system.
