Henry Cisneros
Throughout his career in politics and business, Henry Cisneros has remained involved with housing development and urban revitalization. In 1981, he became the first Hispanic mayor of a major U.S. city when he was elected Mayor of San Antonio, Texas, and served for four terms there. In 1985, he was elected president of the National League of Cities.
Cisneros served as HUD secretary from 1993 to 1997, and was credited with initiating the revitalization of many public housing developments. Working with President Clinton, he also formulated several policies focused on homeownership for low- and middle-income Americans. He currently serves as chairman of CityView, a Los Angeles-based urban residential real estate development firm.
