Firm Description

The story of Minto began in 1955, when four brothers from Ottawa, Ontario – Louis, Gilbert, Irving and Lorry Greenberg – started building houses together. Back then, the company was known as Mercury Homes, and quickly established a name as quality craftsmen who could get the job done quickly.

By 1957, and under the new name “Minto”, this little business was little no longer, with seven houses constructed daily, and the vision and expertise to manage all aspects of the development of large-scale communities. 

Soon after, as an established builder with thousands of homes built and as the region’s largest private landlord, Minto would introduce a new form of homeownership in Canada – the condominium. And in the mid-80’s made a first foray into green building and state-of-the-art technologies. There was no looking back.

Five decades later, The Minto Group is firmly established as a leading integrated real estate development, construction and management company with operations in Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary and Florida.
