Furthering its self-development projects in the Houston region, M/I Homes closed on 205 acres in Needville, Texas, to develop Wild Oaks. The new community, slated to open in late 2027, will bring more than 400 homes to the area.
“This area is one of the break-out regions as greater Houston continues to grow,” says Jay McManus, Houston division president for M/I Homes. “With a location about 11 miles south of Richmond, Wild Oak will offer the best of both worlds — small-town charm and access to everyday conveniences.”
Dustin Vacek, president of the Needville Area Chamber of Commerce believes the addition of Wild Oak should spur economic development within Needville, as well.
Vacek says, “The chamber welcomes this new residential development and looks forward to engaging with new residents and connecting them with Needville’s local businesses. We also are committed to maintaining the strong sense of community and small-town character that defines our area.”
As the exclusive builder in Wild Oaks, M/I Homes will offer 60-, 70-, and 100-foot lots and its Premium Collection of floor plans. Planned amenities will include a pool with a covered pavilion, a playground, park, open green space with a sports field, trails and ponds, including one with an island. Students will attend schools in the Needville Independent School District.
M/I Homes currently builds in 13 Houston-area communities. In September, M/I Homes announced the acquisition of 180 acres for Berryknoll, a new community in the Montgomery area. Berryknoll, set to open this year, will feature 250 homesites ranging from 70 feet wide to an acre. M/I Homes is also developing Summerview in Fulshear, Moran Ranch in Willis, and is jointly developing Sorella in Tomball with Johnson Land Ventures.
