KB Home (NYSE: KBH) said Friday it will stage the grand opening of Edgemont, its latest gated community of single-family new homes in Compton, California this weekend.

Edgemont offers home buyers homes in a centrally located urban neighborhood, convenient to Interstates 105 and 710 and Highway 91, as well as the Metro Blue Line for easy commuting to downtown Los Angeles and Long Beach. Notable area employers include LAX, SpaceX® and California State University.

Edgemont features amenities such as a two-story clubhouse with a kitchenette, pool table and gym, as well as an outdoor patio, basketball court and tot lot. Nearby Gateway Town Center and Crystal Casino feature several shopping, dining and entertainment options, and the local tamale specialist, Tamalería La Doña, is a short drive away. Sports fans will revel in the community’s proximity to the Coliseum, StubHub Center and the coming Inglewood Stadium. Golf enthusiasts can tee-off at nearby Compton Par 3 Golf Course.

KB Home will host a grand opening at Edgemont on Saturday, September 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., during which attendees may tour the two elegantly appointed model homes.

“We are happy to partner with KB Home as they bring attainable new homeownership opportunities to the City of Compton,” said Council Member Isaac Galvan for the City of Compton. “These new homes represent meaningful growth and redevelopment in an area where home buyers want to live and call home.”

Representing the first significant residential construction project in Compton since 2008, Edgemont will be comprised of 62 two-story new homes in a gated enclave available in four distinct floor plans. Ranging in size from 1,500 to 1,800 square feet with three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, the KB homes at Edgemont feature desirable design characteristics such as master suites, spacious great rooms and dedicated laundry rooms. Pricing begins in the low-$470,000s.

“The KB homes at Edgemont represent a unique opportunity to purchase a new home in a vibrant, centrally located Los Angeles metro area neighborhood,” said Glen Longarini, president of KB Home’s Los Angeles/Ventura division. “We expect the community’s private amenities and proximity to Inglewood Stadium, the future home of the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers, will be especially attractive to home shoppers.”

The KB homes at Edgemont will be built to current ENERGY STAR® guidelines and include WaterSense® labeled faucets and fixtures, meaning they are designed to be more energy- and water-efficient than most typical new and resale homes available in the area. These energy- and water-saving features are estimated to save home buyers over $900 a year in utility costs, depending on the floor plan.
