Interest rates may stay low, but they’ve probably seen their bottom

The New York Times’ Lynnley Browning makes a case for Nov. 11, 2010 as “rock bottom” for a 30-year fixed loan rate at 4.17%. Pressures on rates include inflation concerns around the recent tax cut extensions and the Fed’s QE2 program, and the debate among housing economists is whether they’ll top 5% or not. Safe to say, nobody really knows.
