A New Hardwood Flooring Installed with Rubber Bands

1 MIN READ

Brooklyn, N.Y.–based AMB Bois recently introduced a new type of hardwood flooring that will most likely be unfamiliar to consumers, architects, and builders in the U.S.

The product is called Paves de Paris, an end-grain hardwood flooring that has been imported from France. Alexandre Carteau, the company’s president, says the flooring provides the benefits of hard-wearing stone tiles without drawbacks such as cold feet.

Paves comes pre-finished and set on a foam sheet that is installed through a most unusual floating compression system utilizing rubber bands. Priced at $10.50 per square foot, the product comes in rubberwood, French oak, guatambu, iroko, smoked oak, and ashy oak.
