Sometimes an outstanding product can make a project better, even if it isn’t part of the house. That’s the case with the latest item that caught the attention of Mark Flanders, president of Flanders & Co. in Meredith, N.H. He’s recently started using a Web-based construction management software called Co-construct to run his jobs.
“We only signed up for it a few months ago, and already it is changing how we do business,” Flanders says. “My clients can log in and ask a question, make a selection, or approve a change order. No more chasing paper or hunting through e-mails.”
Flanders also uses the program to keep in touch with subcontractors. “We set up subcontractors, and they can get access to the system or get e-mail,” he explains. “When we change the schedule, they get an e-mail to say when we need them to do something, and they can click, ‘Yes, I’m going to be there.’ Without even picking up the phone, I know that they’re going to be there.”
