Builders commit $10 million to help Sept. 11th victims.

By Daniel Walker Guido

Several of the nation’s largest home builders have established a $10 million relief fund for victims of the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks. So far seven companies have donated $1 million each. The funds will be used to support the families of those killed or missing in the attack, including police and firefighters.

Home building companies participating in the relief fund include: Beazer Homes, Centex Corp., K. Hovnanian Enterprises, Lennar Corp., M.D.C. Holdings/Richmond American Homes, Pulte Homes, and Toll Brothers. Other home builders are expected to contribute to the fund.

In a statement released a couple weeks after the attacks, the home builders said: “While we continue to compete with each other for the privilege of building America’s homes, we stand together in our grief and support for the victims of this senseless attack. This support will come not only from our corporate funds, but also from thousands of individual contributions from our employees and their families.”
