Every spring, about 50,000 people gather together for one reason: to see the hottest new products for the kitchen and bath. The Kitchen/Bath Industry Show (KBIS) is not as large as, say, the NAHB International Builders’ Show, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality.
All (or almost all) of the major manufacturing players attend the event, doling out style and panache on a grand scale. For example, North Olmsted, Ohio–based Moen was there showing off its Show-House Destiny powder room faucet with a sleek design and electronic technology: A wave of the hand starts and stops the flow of water. Piscataway, N.J.–based American Standard was there too, with its FloWise line of showerheads. The product lets users choose between a standard 2.5-gallons-per-minute flow rate and a water-saving 1.5-gallons-per-minute, depending on how environmentally conscious the bather is feeling.
If sustainability and respect for mother earth are your thing (and even if they aren’t), Bristol and Bath in King of Prussia, Pa., unveiled its unusual Kobe Basin used-tire sink. The product is made from a used car tire set with a copper basin and galvanized-steel mounting hardware.
