Though specialists in the traditional wrought iron forms and motifs typical of Charleston, S.C., the iron workers at Ole Charleston Forge also produce more contemporary styles. The forge’s artisans primarily use new iron but also can incorporate reclaimed material, such as the pieces of a demolished cable bridge it transformed into a large art piece for one client. The company also collaborates with other artisans on projects that combine iron with other materials, such as glass and wood; it also works in alternative metals, such as brass.
