The ingenuity of the Soft House and many of the other projects led by Kennedy is the dual function of the products. Her most innovative projects stem from MATx, the firm’s materials research. MATx brings business leaders, manufacturers, cultural institutions and public agencies together to creatively collaborate on design, technology, and material science.

The Soft House is prefabricated with materials that perform to deliver energy to the whole home. Inconspicuous items such as curtains can create power for lights or portable electronics, up to half of the daily power needs for an average home.
